Jean-Paul Adam is the Director of Policy, Monitoring, and Advocacy in the Office of the Special Adviser on Africa of the United Nations Secretary-General. He joined the UN in January 2020 and served as the Director of Technology, Climate Change, and Natural Resource Management at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa until June 2023.
He previously held various ministerial positions in the government of Seychelles, including Minister of Finance, Trade, and the Blue Economy (2015-2016), where he negotiated a debt-for-adaptation swap in 2015, leading to the protection of 30% of Seychelles' oceanic space. He initiated the process to make Seychelles the first issuer of a Blue Bond. He also served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Seychelles (2010-2015) and the Minister of Health (2016-2019).
