Denys Reva is a maritime security researcher at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS). Mr. Reva joined the ISS in 2018, working with African governments and regional economic communities to promote maritime security as a policy priority. Since his arrival, he has collaborated with organizations such as the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) to strengthen institutions and responses to maritime security in Africa. Mr. Reva holds a Master's degree in Security Studies from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
The ISS is one of the leading African research organizations promoting enhanced maritime security. It provides evidence-based research and recommends integrated solutions that pave the way for improving human security and supporting the development of robust blue economies in Africa. Through its research, presentations, and policy dialogues, the ISS has been a key player in Africa in identifying and promoting sustainable development opportunities for marine resources while safeguarding them against environmental and socio-economic threats.
